Burial Service Assistance
Lucy’s First Step works alongside local funeral homes to provide assistance with funeral expenses. Financial assistance is available for families to help defray the cost of the funeral service, plot, burial and headstone. Group Therapy Sessions
All group therapy sessions will be held from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in the second floor meeting room of the Millcreek Township Municipal Building located at 3608 West 26th Street. To register for a group therapy session, please contact Lesley Mitchell at (814) 969-1267 or lucysfirststep@gmail.com.

All group therapy sessions are led by Justin Stilson, L.P.C., N.C.C. and are intended to provide education and support to facilitate the grieving process. The group will provide a structured environment for participants to learn about the grieving process and engage in supportive and empathetic dialogue with fellow group members. Topics to be discussed will include manifestations of grief, identifying meaning of loss, family dynamics, finding support, communication, and looking ahead.
Each session typically lasts between 60 and 90 minutes and will begin with introduction of the topic and review of handouts. Participants will then have the opportunity to “check in” and discuss their experience related to the topic. The group facilitator will guide the group by offering feedback and encouraging participants to provide supportive feedback and process their own thoughts, feelings and beliefs.
In addition to the group therapy sessions, Lucy’s First Step can also offer assistance to parents who require further support by providing financial assistance for private counseling to those who are financially disadvantaged. Please click here for a Financial Assistance Application.
